Leading fashion figures attended the ceremony for the Space Age designer, who died last month at the age of 98
French First Lady Brigitte Macron Leads Mourners at Pierre Cardin Funeral Mass
| post by Amiebenomo Nizar |
PARIS — Mourners led by French First Lady Brigitte Macron gathered at the Madeleine Church in Paris on Friday for a funeral mass for Pierre Cardin, who died last month at the age of 98.
His great-nephew and heir, Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin, was joined by members of Cardin’s inner circle including Jean-Pascal Hesse, his director of communications; Maryse Gaspard, director of haute couture, and Pierre Pelegry, director of Maxim’s restaurant.
Basilicati Cardin, who was named chief executive officer of the Cardin brand last October, said Macron had requested a meeting with his great-uncle, whose headquarters are across from the Elysée presidential palace in Paris, shortly before his death, but Cardin was too ill by that time to see her.
“I thanked her for being here today to represent France. I felt she was sincere,” he told WWD after the ceremony. “I think Pierre Cardin deserved it, because he represented French couture worldwide. He always said that France made him who he was, so I thought it was very kind and decent of her.”
Macron accessorized her Louis Vuitton cape coat, trousers and boots with electric blue leather gloves that matched the color of her face mask.
Meanwhile, members of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, known as Immortals, donned their ceremonial jackets, embroidered with olive branches, to bid a final farewell to Cardin, who in 1992 became the first fashion designer elected for life to the prestigious institution.
American fashion designers take center stage at the US presidential inauguration
| post: by Amiebenomo Nizar |
merica's fashion industry was given a boost of confidence on inauguration day as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and First Lady Jill Biden attended the day's events wearing looks from the country's designers.
Harris stepped out in a purple dress and coat by Christopher John Rogers, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The winner of the 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, Rogers is one of the most buzzed-about young Black designers working today, having dressed former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Rihanna. While Rogers is best known for his use of bold colors and dramatic silhouettes, Harris went for more pared-down look, in line with her usual, more minimal sensibilities.
President Biden and the Second Gentleman, Douglas Emhoff, both wore suits by Ralph Lauren, the Bronx-born son of Jewish immigrants who has been the standard-bearer for luxury Americana for more than 40 years.
Jill Biden, meanwhile, wore a blue tweed coat with velvet cuffs, and a dress embellished with Swarovski crystals and pearls (as well as a matching face mask) designed by Colorado-born designer Alexandra O'Neill of the emerging American label Markarian. "It is an incredible honor to dress Dr. Biden today. I am so humbled to be even a small part of American history," said O'Neill in an email to CNN Style.
World richest people who don't spend on Fashion..they are unfashionable
Bill Gates refuses to overspend on these 2 common things
With a net worth of $92.9 billion, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates can buy virtually anything his heart desires — but you won’t find the billionaire blowing loads of dough shopping.
In a Reddit Ask Me Anything, Gates was asked about the one area where he refuses to overspend: “I don't like spending a lot of money on clothes or jewelry,” the billionaire replied.
Here's Gates respond 😁... what this guy lives a simply lifestyle 🤪🤪🤪
Gates’ close friend Warren Buffett, who once that read “THRIFTY," is another billionaire who refrains from spending serious money on clothing. “I’m happy in a pair of khakis and a sweater,” the Berkshire Hathaway CEO told CBS News . “I don’t need fancy clothes.”
Former U.S. president Barack Obama says he does repeat his clothes....
Former U.S. president Barack Obama is also a fan of repeating outfits. In a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Michelle Obama revealed that her husband wore the same tux and shoes for eight years straight. “And he was proud of it, too," said the former First Lady.
And it’s not just men who take an economical approach to shopping for clothes. Thrive Global founder Arianna Huffington told CNBC Make It that she’s a in donning the same clothing over and over.
Former U.S first lady Michelle Obama...was quoted by saying
“Women waste so much money and so much attention, and stress out so much believing they have to always wear a new outfit for every occasion," she explained. “I love finding outfits I like and repeating them again and again and again."
Oprah Winifred
Then there’s Oprah Winfrey, who recently became in the world with a net worth of $4.02 billion. The media mogul opened up about her penny-pinching habits on the OWN network, and said that she saves pantyhose with runs in them so they can be repurposed into DIY Spanx.
Both fashion icons..KIM AND KANYE are In Marriage Counseling... DIVORCE ON THE TABLE....
We're told no final decision has been made, and it's telling they've been in counseling for a while.
We're told their issues have been neither contentious nor ugly, but they do have lots of differences ... from lifestyle to politics. They are, however, fully aligned on parenting.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been in marriage counseling, and we've learned the subject of divorce was looming for much of 2020, but they haven't given up.
Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, the marriage was in deep trouble for the last half of 2020. In fact, we're told Kim was ready to pull the plug on the marriage at one point but it was when Kanye was going through a serious bipolar episode and she felt it was cruel to do it when he wasn't well.
They have been living separately for a few months ... with Kanye spending the majority of his time in Wyoming while she has been in Calabasas with the kids. They were absorbed in personal business projects and didn't focus on making any final decisions.
Kim has gone back and forth, we're told ... at times thinking divorce was the only option but other times believing there was a chance to save the marriage. That's why they took a family vacation late last year ... to see if they could repair things.
Everything got put on hold for the Christmas holidays, but now the issue is front and center. Kim's had disso queen Laura Wasser on retainer for years for various reasons, and the subject of divorce was discussed months ago, but Kim never gave the green light to file.
Her ambivalence is understandable, what with 4 small kids. They married in May, 2014.

On finding inspiration...the fashion business mogul speaks on his inspiration
I write through my clothes. They tell my stories. But the authors that have most influenced me are Fitzgerald, Hemingway and Ayn Rand, to name a few.
I find inspiration everywhere — in movies, books, places I travel to and people I meet. When I started creating my ties I would see a checked tablecloth and think: “that would make an interesting tie.” One of my favourite home collection pieces was a tartan highboy inspired by my collection of tartan boxes.
My advice to young style entrepreneurs is simply to believe in yourself. Believe in your vision. Find ways to reinvent it, but never stray from the essence of what inspires you.
His Qoutes ....
Good taste isn’t just something you’re born with, or something you learn, but a combination of the two. I always had something inside of me I wanted to express, and over time I found different ways to say it — through the things that we wear, the things that we live with — a world of quality that is timeless and authentic.
On an enduring sense of optimism...
I think optimism is deeply embedded in the American spirit. We are always optimistic about the future and the things that we can accomplish and who we can become. That’s all tied up with the American Dream. I believe in the precepts that built this country. They were created by a diversity of leaders who set about to define freedom for the citizens in the broadest of terms.
A business mogul, American dreamer, philanthropist, salesman and innovator, the real genius of Ralph Lauren is that he has created an entire world all to himself — a semi-fictional country of Cape Cod pastels and Western cowboys, Ivy League quads and Oxford punts, cocktails on lawn tennis courts and après-ski fondue.
His world is a republic marked by good taste, grace and optimism, and his approach to the imagined country is almost writerly in its detail and colour. Ralph Lauren makes novels you can wear.
The latest chapter in this well-thumbed book saw Lauren celebrate 50 years of the company that bears his name in 2018 – as well as his 80th birthday in 2019...he would be 82 this year 2021...
What’s so remarkable is that the milestone comes with no world-weariness or cynicism — five decades in, and the brand and its founder still exude the same optimism, fun and aspiration as they did when a plucky Ralph Lifshitz first started selling ties from a drawer in the Empire State Building.

On discovering a passion for watches...
“The first watch that really left its mark on me was one my father wore when I was a child. It was nothing fancy, but it was always on his wrist. I have always felt a man’s watch is his most personal accessory.”
"I THINK OPTIMISM IS DEEPLY EMBEDDED IN THE AMERICAN SPIRIT..."
“Later, there were many watches that I was drawn to and collected. Some of them were built for utility, others for pure elegance, but for me a watch, like a car, has a very specific purpose — and the craftsmanship involved was always inspiring.”
I love the utility aspect of watches. The romance comes from the wearer: the pilot who wore it on his wrist under a flight jacket; the aged patina of a leather strap that has been handed down from father to son; the watches that were worn by charismatic personalities incorporating them into their personal style.”
On a lifelong love for the teddy bear...
The teddy bear has always been an icon of American culture. It was named after Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt in the early years of the 20th Century. Our own Polo Bear, which featured in the 50th Anniversary collection among others, was a natural extension of our world — he dressed in our looks and later became a much-loved mascot.
It was my brother Jerry that presented me with an authentic Steiff teddy, perfectly styled in a miniature outfit that mimicked one of mine precisely.

Reasons Why Women May Feel Better If They Stop Wearing Bras.. Nigerian female rapper Eva doesn't wear bras...as a guy would you let your woman go bra less
I had a video chat with an old friend who's getting married this year and she was bra less 😂 I didn't ask her why...I just decided to blog on it
From causing saggy breasts, skin irritation, and pressure lines around the body to costing a lot of money, bras might not be as harmless as they seem. Whether they’re push-ups, lace, sports or strapless bras, they all come with varying levels of discomfort. Social norms and our own habits might make us wear bras on a daily basis, but it seems like sometimes rules can be broken for your own comfort.
Bright Side decided to look at this beautiful yetcontroversial item from another angle, and here’s what we’ve got on this topic. Let’s dig into this!
1. No sweat under the breasts anymore!
Hot days are nice until you start feeling that uncomfortable under-breast sweat. In this case, wearing a bra can make a situation worse — it will just rub the unpleasant moisture into your skin. Instead, going braless and letting your skin breathe will help it to simply evaporate, giving you a fresh and enjoyable feeling.
2. It can also help to clear up your skin.
Additionally, by letting the dirt and sweat build up underneath the bra, we can run the risk of developing an infection or acne. This is extra important during hot seasons when we sweat more than usual. Tight bra straps drenched in sweat can also cause breakouts. There’s no need to let bacteria grow. It’s better to just remove the thing that causes them!
3. It helps the natural chest shape.
Even though we wear bras to support our breasts, they don’t play such a useful role in the long run. In reality, bras make the chest sag, according to a study. Breasts shouldn’t be denied gravity medically, psychologically, or anatomically. So, removing your bra will be beneficial for both health and beauty.
4. It can make your breasts stronger.
Being free from artificial support, breasts are free to develop their own muscle tissue! This means that they won’t need any other support than their own. They use the pectoral muscles to recreate this tissue and are then able to resist gravity. This way, while they work, you can enjoy their beautiful perky shape!
5. It will free you from those pressure lines around your body.
No matter how good or expensive your bra is, there’s always a chance it will leave some pressure lines around your chest. Most of the time, such marks hurt and cause discomfort, and you want to remove them as fast as you can. Well, in this case, no bra means no suffering.
6. It can help to improve your circulation.
Bras can also limit the lymphatic circulation around your chest area. Lymph is an important fluid in our body as it helps to remove bacteria, abnormal cells and other matters. Removing it will stimulate its flow, providing muscle tissue and helping to keep your skin firm. Wearing a bra isn’t harmful but giving your body some love by not wearing one is definitely worth it.
When is it necessary to wear a bra?
There might be situations when wearing a bra is necessary like while doing sports, for example. Not wearing it during intense physical activity can be dangerous for your breasts as it can cause tissue damage, pain, and discomfort. So, in this case, a good sports bra with decent support is a must-have.
Do you wear bras often? What do you think about our points? Would you ever give up wearing them? Let’s share our thoughts in the comment section!
