Serena Williams Launches ‘Unstoppable’ Jewelry Collection To Support Covid-19 Relief

In November last year, Serena Williams launched a jewelry collection for her eponymous clothing brand with the idea to inspire and celebrate the strength of a woman. Featuring beautifully crafted necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings, some of which were engraved with words such as “Queen” and “Winner” to be an embodiment of the tennis star, who said the collection “is a celebration of the strong women in her life and around the world.”

Williams is back again but this time with a capsule collection named after the word ‘Unstoppable.’ According to the tennis star, the new collection “represents serenity and unity, and is a reminder that your optimism and strength are unstoppable.”

The 38-year-old also added that wearing the set of jewelry will always be a reminder that there’s no room for giving up during hard times. “Each day is a new day we have to keep reminding ourselves,” Williams wrote on Instagram while posting in a bodycon dress and the set of jewelry from her brand. “No matter how hard the day before was. Just remember If you want to quit, give up think of who you could be inspiring. Let me tell you it’s hard for everyone including – especially me but keep going you can get through it.”

The unstoppable collection comes in two pieces of sterling silver necklace and bracelet made in collaboration with diamond and jewelry company KP Sanghvi, which are only ethically mined and conflict-free diamonds. More good news? Starting from 16th July through 5th August, 100 percent proceeds from the SWJ purchases will be donated to the Opportunity Fund’s Small Business Relief Fund, an organization that raises money to support self-employed and small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Colorful and bright Igbo attires have the spirit of authenticity and ancient traditions in it. It’s amazing how it has survived through centuries and kept many of its characteristic features untouched. However, the western culture has made Igbo people revise their point of view on the attire, its functions and its look. Now, the majority of traditional elements are seen in wedding dresses mostly and in men’s clothes meant for formal occasions.

At ancient times, the dressing of Igbo people was quite different from what we see now. Younger women wore short wrappers and plenty of beads of different types and styles. Older ones who already have children also added a piece of cloth that was wrapped around the bodies of both mothers and their babies. Such a way of carrying babies and infants has transformed into the modern child carriers.

Today, it’s possible to see young girls wear dresses styled like those wrappers, which are meant for some formal occasions. For instance, such dressing can be chosen by bridesmaids for their best friend’s wedding. Sometimes, girls and women choose dresses that look like wrappers, long or short.

What happened to our culture????

Naomi Campbell Wears The Most Gorgeous Ankara Dress On Essence Magazine

July 8, 2020....#FashionMomentWithNiz

Essence Magazine has tapped non-other than the original supermodel,
Naomi Campbel to mark it’s 50th Anniversary Issue. The latest issue celebrates the magazine’s existence as a pillar in the Black community for five decades. According to the media outfit, it was a major challenge to shoot for the cover spread due to the fact that everyone is quarantined at home.

For this reason, Naomi took matters into her hands. She was her own hairstylist, her makeup artist and in a situation where there was no traditional photoshoot, she also pulled out her iPhone to make the most of its camera, hence the beautiful shoot.

Naomi also explained that the experience was quite unusual for her, having been the one who’s always surrounded or pampered by a slew of beauty artists. “It was a very special honor and unusual experience for me to be able to shoot and style my own cover for ESSENCE’s 50th-anniversary issue,” Campbell said. “While it was a sad reminder for me of all the people in media and production who are not able to work due to the coronavirus, it also brought me hope and encouragement to know that our people and our infrastructures are resilient.”
The cover comes with photos of the supermodel showing off her coolness. She’s wearing a long white dress on the main cover, a gorgeous mini length African prints dress that won a spot on our wishlist, and photo where she’s decked out in African-inspired headwrap.
