Lizzo has shared her thoughts on patriotism and political progress while posing semi-nude.
On Tuesday, which marked election day in the US, the Grammy Award-winning singer posted a photo on Instagram which showed her wearing half of an American flag jumpsuit, leaving one side of her body artfully exposed.
The jumpsuit was designed by Rey Ortiz in collaboration with Lizzo's stylist, Marko Monroe, who told Insider that the garment originally featured one side made out of mesh.
However, Monroe said he decided to cut off the mesh during the photo shoot to create a semi-nude look.
Lizzo coupled the striking image with an equally compelling caption, in which she shared an impassioned message about why voting is so crucial.
“When I think of this country I don't think of its laws I think of its people. I think about how we were raised to be patriotic of violence, propaganda and war. I think about how this country is owned by the oppressor and how the oppressed are locked in a valley of capitalism,” she wrote.“
But I also think of the young people who refuse to be spoon fed mistruths. I think of the elders who bucked against hateful prejudices even when it felt impossible....Because of you, I'm still hopeful.”

The “Juice” singer went on to explain that her vision of America is a country that “listens to the cries of the protester” as well as “[respects] the communities of people who owned America before colonizers renamed it.”
Last month, the singer accepted the award for Top Song Sales Artist at the Billboard Music Awards while wearing a custom Christian Siriano, featuring the word “Vote” written across it several times.
For Halloween, she dressed up as the fly that landed on Mike Pence's head during the vice-presidential debate. To re-create the viral moment, the singer wore an outfit from Mister Howie with white Stuart Weitzman heels.
Last week, the 32-year-old also dressed up as her version of Uncle Sam, sharing a photo of her wearing an American flag bra and white denim shorts.
She captioned the picture: “Auntie Sam realness - RECLAIMING MY TIME MY COUNTRY MY RIGHTS.”
